1. What cookies and other tracking tools are

Cookies are small text strings that the websites a user visits send to the user’s device (usually to the browser), where they are stored and then sent back to the same websites on later visits.

Cookies can serve different purposes: computer authentication (login), storing information about the session (for example language preferences), tracking the user’s browsing for statistical or advertising purposes, linking data stored on the server side (for example the contents of a shopping cart), and more.

Alongside cookies there are other tracking tools which, although not technically cookies, also involve storing information on the user’s device or accessing information stored there, and which the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante) has expressly brought under article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code: these include the browser’s local storage and session storage, tracking pixels, SDKs and passive fingerprinting techniques.

For simplicity, in what follows the term “cookie” refers to both cookies and other tracking tools.

2. Legal basis and why consent is not requested

Under article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code, the user’s consent is not required when storing information, or accessing information already stored, is strictly necessary:

• to transmit a communication over an electronic communications network; or
• to provide an information society service explicitly requested by the user.

The Site uses only technical cookies.

3. Types of cookies used by the Site

4.1 By origin

• First-party cookies: set and readable only by the operator of the website the user is visiting. All the tools used by the Site fall into this category.
• Third-party cookies: sent by websites or servers other than the one being visited. The Site does not use third-party cookies.

4.2 By function

• Technical or functional cookies: needed to display the Site correctly, to allow navigation and to provide the services requested by the user. They are either:
  • session cookies: valid only for a single browsing session and deleted when the browser is closed;
  • persistent cookies: they remain on the device until a set expiry date or until they are deleted manually, making it possible, for example, to remember preferences and settings.
• Analytics cookies: used to collect aggregate information on how the Site is used. They can be treated as technical cookies only if they are first-party, with the IP address suitably minimised and without combining data from other applications or websites. The Site does not use analytics cookies, whether first-party or third-party.
• Profiling and marketing cookies: used to build user profiles and to send advertising in line with the preferences shown while browsing. The Site does not use profiling or marketing cookies.

5. Third-party services and content

• Fonts: the fonts used by the Site are hosted and served directly by our server. No call is made to Google Fonts or to any other external font service; as a result, the user’s IP address is not passed to any third party.
• External links (Google Maps, LinkedIn and similar): the Site only contains hyperlinks to these platforms, which open in a new tab on their own domains only after the user deliberately clicks on them. No content from these platforms is embedded in the Site’s pages. Any cookies set after the click belong exclusively to those parties, are set on their domains and are governed by their own notices, which we invite you to read:

The Controller has no control over the processing carried out by those parties and is not responsible for their content or conduct.

6. Profiling, automated decisions and transfers outside the EU

The cookies and tools described in this notice are not used for any profiling, nor for any automated decision-making within the meaning of article 22 GDPR.

Any data processed through these tools is not transferred outside the European Economic Area. The Site is hosted on servers located in Italy by Aruba S.p.A.

7. How to manage or disable cookies in your browser

Users can view, limit, block or delete cookies and local storage data at any time through their browser settings. Please note that disabling technical cookies may affect how the Site is displayed and the use of some of its features.

8. Updates to this notice

The Controller may amend or update this Cookie Policy, including as a result of changes in the law, guidance from the supervisory authorities or changes in the technologies used by the Site. Changes will be published on this page, together with the date of the last update. Please check this document from time to time.
